1 shot, 1 in custody after burglary in southeast Eugene

Eugene police responded to a 911 call reporting a burglary Thursday afternoon near the 3300 block of Stoney Ridge Road.

The call was received at 3 p.m., and the Eugene police and Violent Crimes Unit responded to the scene.

While at the home, shots were fired and one of the burglary suspects was killed.

The other suspect fled on foot and after a police search was later tracked by a Springfield K-9 unit and taken into custody nearby.

    The only thing about this that bothers me is the mess that poor homeowner is going to have to clean up, plus whatever psychological damage they will have to endure for defending their property against an intruder.
