The athletic department has announced that head coach Mark Helfrich has dismissed sophomore defensive back James Scales from the Ducks due to an unspecified violation of team rules.

Scales saw limited action in his first two years, including a career high three tackles a season ago at Colorado. The sophomore from Greensboro, NC accumulated stats in five games this season.
