Pitcher Jessica Moore earned her 20th win of the season as the No. 5 Oregon softball team beat Portland State 8-0 in five innings. The Ducks also tacked on a 5-0 win against the Vikings in game one of their doubleheader yesterday.

With yesterday’s shutouts, the Ducks have kept their opponents scoreless for 24 straight innings.

Senior Samantha Pappas led Oregon in hits for the second straight game. Pappas hit her 35th homer of her career and recorded three RBI, just one-off her season high.

The Ducks will have the weekend to rest, but head down to SoCal next weekend to face No. 18 UCLA.

Olympic swimmer Missy Franklin beat out Oregon’s Liz Brenner yesterday for the 2012 James E. Sullivan Award.

Brenner, the Ducks’ multi-sport athlete, was one of three finalists. The award is presented each year to the nation’s top amateur athlete by the Amateur Athletic Union.

Weightlifter, Darren Barnes, was the other finalists.

Brenner attended the ceremony at the AAU national headquarters in Orlando, Fla.
