Dishcrawl, a national food tasting group with branches all around the country, is hosting an event in Eugene on June 25th. The local gathering will involve foodies heading out out to walk around and visit Eugene restaurants, taste their signature dish, and meet the owner and chef.
This will be their second event here, and if its anything like the first one, it won’t disappoint.
During their debut event, Dishcrawlers meet at The First National Taphouse and were served plates of Edamame sliders, Caprese salad, and something appropriately called the the Triple Threat Mac and Cheese. Next they visited Bon Mi where they were served Banh Mi sandwiches stuffed full of marinated meats, salad rolls with homemade peanut sauce, and a Vermicelli noodle salad. Then they visited Poppi’s Anatolia where they were served a variety of Greek platters and breads. And onto the final stop, the Davis Restaurant and Bar, where they were served Brie and apple baked pastries with a balsamic reduction, apple crumpet topped with cream, and a drinkable Zabayon with a savory port underhand, topped with a mint leaf and an almond crisp.
Along the way, Dishcrawlers meet the owner and head chef at each restaurant, and heard a little bit of history about how the restaurant started.
The restaurants for the next event are unknown at this point and will be announced to the ticket holders on the night of the event. The ticket buyers will be given a meeting place 48 hours before the event, and start the Dishcrawl experience from there. At each restaurants the Dishcrawlers will meet with the owners of the restaurants and learn a little about the history of the restaurant, as well as meeting the head chef and learning about his or her career.
The next event will cost $45 per person. Diners will experience four restaurants in Downtown Eugene throughout the night, and will hopefully give each restaurant and what they bring to the Eugene food-tasting scene a little more exposure.
