Marcus Mariota was issued a speeding ticket in the early morning hours on Wednesday, Nov. 14.
The Oregon quarterback was stopped by a state trooper on Highway 126 West near Veneta for driving 80 mph in a 55 mph zone.
The traffic citation said that state trooper Ryan Hockema stopped Mariota’s Nissan Sedan at 12:46 a.m. after using a radar gun to clock the car’s speed. The roads were mostly empty.
Mariota is due to appear in Lane County Circuit Court on December 11. He is facing an approximate $260 fine if convicted of the traffic violation.
Mariota accepted the ticket from Hockema and remained polite and understanding of the situation, The Register-Guard reported.
