Florida State running back Dalvin Cook was listed as an associate in an aggravated assault case from July 17, 2014 that is still currently being investigated by Tallahassee Police. The police department indicated that it has no further update at this time.
The release of Cook’s name came as part of an open records request from ESPN. 
“In September of 2014, TPD was contacted by a reporter with ESPN requesting any existing police records from TPD that contain the names of 360 specific individuals, identified by ESPN as Florida State University athletes,” the news release states. 
A true freshman, Cook has emerged as the Seminoles’ go to running back, accounting for 905 yards on the ground and eight touchdowns. In the ACC Championship, a game that booked Florida State a date with Oregon in the Rose Bowl, Cook ran for a career-best 171 yards and one touchdown.
“We are committed to ensuring that every citizen of this community, including our university students, know that we take every report of possible criminal activity seriously,” Tallahassee Police Chief Michael DeLeo said in the statement. “We also have an obligation, under state law, to respond to national media requests such as this and have done so professionally and with a commitment to openness.”
