If anyone needed convincing as to just how dominant the Michigan Wolverines were last season, then the fact that the unbeaten championship winning team has 18 representatives in the NFL Combine is pretty much a confirmation of what everyone already knew.
Having won their first title since 1997 and then seeing their successful head coach, Jim Harbaugh, leave for the NFL and the Los Angeles Chargers hot seat, all eyes will now be on his replacement, Sherrone Moore, and it will be interesting to see how Michigan builds on their incredible campaign.
Fans of the Wolverines, or indeed American football as a whole, who are considering placing a bet on Michigan for next season can make the most of the insights offered in terms of the best sportsbooks for college football, which will then aid and improve the payout any potential winning bet secures.
The 18 players expected to be at the combine, which is the highest since 2003, includes star quarterback J.J McCarthy, wide receivers Roman Wilson and Cornelius Johnson and a host of other stars in the making.
Sherrone Moore has it all to do in terms of putting his stamp on the Michigan setup, and as part of his coaching changes, he’s brought in LaMar Morgan as his new defensive coordinator.
He had already named Steve Casula as the coach for his tight ends, an appointment Moore was clearly ecstatic about completing,
“Steve is a smart, versatile and highly capable coach who works hard to put the players in the best position to succeed,”
“He will be an asset to us in recruiting and a great addition to the offensive staff room. We look forward to having Steve mentor our tight ends and be heavily involved in other aspects of our program. Steve and his family are a great addition to our staff and we welcome them back to the Michigan Football family.”
Casula has been part of the Michigan set-up since 2019, when he joined as an offensive analyst and was promoted to a senior analyst role for 2020 and 2021. He then moved to UMass to act as offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the Minutemen before returning to Michigan in his new role.
Jim Harbaugh led the Wolverines to a 15-0 Championship last season, albeit sitting out a number of games due to suspension (first for recruiting violations and then in relation to the sign-stealing debacle), and in many ways, Sherrone Moore is in something of a no-win scenario, at least initially.
If Michigan continues to play the opposition off the field of play, it will be Harbaugh’s hard work building the team up that will be applauded, and if they see a drop in form, Moore’s head will be on the block. Indeed, it’s a very tough debut head coach role that the 38-year-old has, albeit one that he will have dreamed about for some time.
