On Feb. 21, the University of Oregon announced the extension of both its enrollment deadline for class of 2028 students, from May 1 to June 1, as well as the FAFSA application, from March 1 to April 1.
“We understand that the changing federal financial aid process has been extremely challenging for all prospective college students across the country,” Vice President for Student Services and Enrollment Management Roger Thompson said in UO’s statement this morning.
The extension provides students additional time to review financial aid offers and seek any additional guidance before making an admissions decision.
In addition to the extension, UO Admissions will assist students and families who are navigating through the admissions process through admitted student events and programs.
“While all of us, students, families, colleges, and universities face some uncertainty at this time, we want to assure our admitted students that we are here to provide as much guidance and support as possible,” Thompson said in the statement.
The extended deadline follows incomplete applications from students and families.
“There are some students and families that have still been unable to complete the FAFSA,” Director of Student Financial Aid and Scholarships Jim Brooks said in the statement.
Other universities across the West Coast have extended their FAFSA to provide students and families extra time to review financial aid offers.
