In Dan Lanning’s short time at the helm of Oregon’s football program, he has had several terrific National Early Signing Days. After an 11 win (and counting) season in 2023, Lanning is looking to continue to add talent to the Ducks’ roster. Follow along here for updates as what looks to be a promising day unfolds.
JacQuawn McRoy — 4-star Offensive Tackle
McRoy adds to an already boosted Ducks line — Fox Crader signed earlier in the day to a group that is a finalist for the Joe Moore Award for the best offensive line in the nation. Though that group will likely lose a few pieces, it appears that Oregon is more than ready to replace them. McRoy is the sixth-ranked OT nationally, and the seventh-best player in Alabama, according to 247Sports. He’s from Pinson, Alabama (if that sounds familiar, it’s because it’s where Bo Nix calls home), and comes in at 6-8 and 350 pounds. Oregon’s marquee signings — quarterbacks Dillon Gabriel and Dante Moore — will be well-protected in the Big Ten.
Dillon Gresham — 4-star Wide Receiver
California is a football powerhouse, and Oregon landed one of its better players. Gresham comes from San Jacinto High School in San Jacinto, California, and had 14 offers including USC and Colorado. Gresham is the No. 27 ranked player in California and the No. 46 wide receiver in the class of 2024 according to 247Sports. As the Oregon offense continues to add quarterbacks, it appears to be keeping stride with its wide-out weapons with this signing. This could be a huge landing for Lanning and the Ducks.
Ryan Pellum — 4-star Wide Receiver
Oregon picked up another flip on the day, as former USC commit Pellum announced that he would move from Los Angeles to Eugene. He’s just 5-11 and 170 lbs, but will provide yet another option out wide for the Ducks. Pellum is the fourth receiver in the class — and the second-best per 247Sports. He ranks 19th nationally amongst wideouts and 11th in California. Paired with fellow Cali native Dillon Gresham, he has the potential to do damage to Big Ten secondaries.
Fox Crader — 4-star Offensive Tackle
In what may end up being the greatest name of the day, Fox Crader is set to join the Ducks after choosing Oregon over 18 other offers including Oklahoma and USC. From Evergreen High School in Vancouver, Washington, Crader is the No. 3 ranked player in the state, the No. 19 OT in the class of 2024 and No. 202 nationally by 247Sports. A strength of Oregon’s offense recently has been its line. This is a key signing for the Ducks.
Jeremiah McClellan — 4-star Receiver
On national signing day, McClellan shocked the country by announcing that he was flipping his commitment from Ohio State to Oregon. The Ducks staff had been working tirelessly for months to persuade him to play for them. McClellan is ranked as the 16th best WR in the country and the fourth best player in Missouri by 247Sports, where he is also a 4-star recruit. McClellan is coming out of Christian Brothers College, a prestigious high school in St. Louis, MO.
Kade Caton — 3-star Tight End
Caton announced his commitment to Oregon on Dec. 20 — the third tight end secured by the Ducks on the day. A 6-5, 250 lb prospect out of Texas, he’ll boost a core that was well-used by head coach Dan Lanning and offensive coordinator Will Stein in 2023. Caton is the No. 71 tight end nationally, and he’ll look to compete with the core that’s already in place for playing time.
Da’Juan Riggs — 3-star Running Back
Riggs is a 6’0”, 202 lbs RB from St. John’s high school in Washington D.C. Riggs is ranked by 247Sports as the fifth best player from the country’s capital, and ultimately chose Oregon back in July over a final group that included Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Pittsburgh. The 3-star chose to move all the way across the country due to his special relationships with both head coach Dan Lanning and Running backs coach Carlos Locklyn.
Luke Moga — 3-star Quarterback
In what has already been an exciting offseason for Oregon and its ability to obtain quarterbacks, the Ducks inked another on Wednesday in the form of Luke Moga. He comes from Sunnyslope High School in Phoenix, Arizona and chose the Ducks over both of his home schools, Arizona and ASU. Moga is the No. 60 quarterback in the class of 2024 and the No. 19 player in Arizona according to 247Sports.
Roger Saleapaga — 3-star Tight End
Oregon’s new addition to the Tight End room will be a big 6’4”, 245 lbs beast from Orem High School in Utah. Saleapaga is ranked by 247Sports as the No. 5 player in the state of Utah and the No. 31 TE nationally and chose Oregon over close interest from schools such as Auburn and Tennessee. Saleapaga will be a tremendous addition to the offense and has the size and athleticism to compete right away.
Trent Ferguson — 3-star Offensive Tackle
The Ducks inked an Oregon native in Ferguson over his four other offers from USC, Oregon State, Washington State and Nevada. He is the No. 10 ranked player in Oregon and the No. 91 OT in the class of 2024 according to 247Sports.
A.J. Pugliano — 3-star Tight End
Lanning did more home-cooking by inking a tight end from North Medford High School in Medford, Oregon. Pugliano had three other offers from Arizona, Oregon State and Washington State. According to 247Sports, Pugliano is the No. 8 player in the state and the No. 56 tight end in the class of 2024.
Jack Ressler — 3-star Wide Receiver
Straight from Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California, Ressler chose Oregon over 23 other offers from the likes of USC and Notre Dame. Ressler is the No. 71 ranked player in the state and No. 123 wide receiver in the class of 2024 according to 247Sports.
Devin Brooks — 3-star Offensive Lineman
Straight from Clackamas High School in Clackamas, Oregon, Brooks is staying in Oregon after choosing the Ducks over 12 other offers including Arizona State and Arizona. Brooks is the No. 2 ranked player in the state and the No. 30 ranked inside offensive lineman in the class of 2024 by 247Sports.
