In its first dual meet of the season, the Oregon san volleyball team were shutout against Washington, falling 5-0 in Portland Saturday morning.
The Ducks got behind early after the first two matches. Oregon’s Taylor Agost and Chelsey Keoho lost 21-12, 21-14 in match No. 4. UO’s Frankie Shebby teamed up with Portland State transfer Roni LaPierre in No. 5, falling in straight sets, 21-11, 21-16.
In the No. 3 match, Oregon’s Kacey Nady and Maggie Scott fell 21-16 in the first match before pushing the second match to extra points before losing 24-22.
Oregon duo Serena Warner and Natalie Bookout Gonzalez fell to Washington’s Crissy Jones and Tia Scambray in match No. 2, 21-15, 21-12. Liz Brenner and Sehllsy Ashen rebounded from a 21-12 defeat in the first set for a more competitive second set, but still fell 21-18.
In the exhibition match, freshmen Marine Hall-Poirier and Alex Hojnar fell to UW’s Lianna Sybeldon and Jade Finau in the first set, 21-15, but came back to take the second 21-11 win in the second. In the deciding third set, the duo fell 15-13.
With the win, the Huskies improve to 5-0.
