– Oregon-Michigan State will be the featured game on ABC’s Saturday Night Football next year. The game, held on Sept. 12 in Spartan Stadium will begin at 8 p.m. Both team’s will likely be ranked going in.
– With Oregon baseball’s season nearing a close, several Ducks project to be early round picks in the upcoming MLB Draft. Junior closer Garrett Cleavinger will probably be the first off the board after he shattered Jimmy Sherfy’s Oregon all-time record of 77 career appearances with 104 of his own. Mitchell Tolman and Josh Graham should also be taken.
– Emerald reporter Kenny Jacoby breaks down one of the potential issues with the baseball team. He sees the frequent lineup changes and believes they could be harming the team. Oregon manager George Horton has altered the Ducks’ batting order from the previous game in 51 of 57 games this season.
– Farewell Howe Field. Oregon softball is preparing for its final series within the historic venue before construction of Jane Saunders Stadium begins this summer. The Ducks will be hosting NC State in a three-game series for the NCAA Super Regionals.
– More from softball. Cheridan Hawkins, starting pitcher for the Ducks, remains in the hunt for college softball’s most prestigious award. The American Softball Association and USA Softball announced that she is one of the top three finalists for the 14th annual USA Softball National Collegiate Player of the Year.
– Oregon track and field jumper and sprinter Jasmine Todd earned the Pac-12 Women’s Field Athlete of the Year. The redshirt sophomore out of Chandler, Arizona, picked up the honor after helping the Ducks win the Pac-12 Championship at Drake Stadium last weekend.
– Oregon’s Jenna Prandini and Edward Cheserek were named to the Academic All-District team today. Cheserek, the seven-time NCAA Champion in track and field, currently holds a 3.34 GPA, while Prandini, an 11-time All-American boasts a 3.55 GPA.
– Per the Autzen Zoo, former Oregon safety John Boyett is planning to sign with the CFL’s BC Lions. After getting drafted by the Indianapolis Colts in the sixth round of the 2013 NFl Draft and getting released by the Denver Broncos — both following arrests — Boyett is looking to reclaim his career.
