— The Oregon men’s basketball team opened up its 2015-16 season with a 92-44 victory over visiting Northwest Christian in an exhibition game on Wednesday. Dillon Brooks showed off his new looks and improved game as he led the way with 26 points on 10-of-12 shooting while freshman Tyler Dorsey added 15 points and eight rebounds. The Ducks finish their exhibition schedule with a game against Southern Oregon on Sunday
— After a 1-0 victory over Washington last Sunday, the Ducks’ senior were sent out in style in their last home match at Papé Field. The Emerald’s Gus Morris sat down with all five seniors and asked them questions reflecting on their respective Oregon careers.
— Edward Cheserek is once again the Pac-12’s best. After claiming the the Pac-12 Cross Country Male Athlete of the Year during his freshman and sophomore seasons, Cheserek was once again crowned as top of the conference when he was received the award again on Wednesday.
— The Oregon track and field program announced its 2016 season on Thursday. The season is headlined by three home meets as well as the NCAA Championships and the Olympic Trials. The first meet, the Pepsi Invitational, is expected to be one of the toughest meets for the Ducks as USC, Washington and the cross country Big-10 champions Penn State will be the final three teams competing.
— It’s only year two for women’s basketball head coach Kelly Graves but there are already massive differences within the Oregon program. After years of being in the Pac-12’s basement, the Ducks have a clear goal this year; earn an NCAA tournament appearance, a realistic goal according to senior Jillian Alleyne.
