The University hires a new VP for equity, inclusion
Yvette Marie Alex-Assensoh —@@http://diversity.uoregon.edu/@@ the University’s new vice president for equity and inclusion — holds a law degree from Indiana University and by all accounts should do well with the position. In her cover letter for the position, Alex-Assensoh cites a good perspective on the position: “A fervent commitment to help people achieve their highest potential and the desire to have broad and lasting institutional impact animate my interest in academic leadership.”

SCORE yells at students in an otherwise good rally
Yes, the athletic department is now being taken to task for book-cooking and other generally sketchy behavior. But while the idea behind this is a good, tangible way of getting things done, we heard reports of students being yelled at for entering the arena for the game. Pac-12 Conference awards make grave error
Well, we knew already that the authorities in the Pac-12 were against the Ducks (see: men’s basketball vs. Colorado in Boulder). But to choose Lorenzo Romar@@http://www.gohuskies.com/sports/m-baskbl/mtt/romar_lorenzo00.html@@ from Washington for the NCAA Coach of the Year award over Dana Altman? When Romar has all the talent in the world and Altman strung together a 7-2 record over the past month? For shame.
