The Ducks’ total score of 871 (19-over par) was nine strokes better than the two teams that tied for fourth (Oregon State and Pacific). Ahead of Oregon, No. 3 Washington and Long Beach State tied for the tournament win at five-over 857, as the 49ers erased a seven-stroke Husky lead with a final round 279 (five-under par). @@http://www.golfstatresults.com//public/leaderboards/team/static/team2974.html@@
Redshirt junior Robbie Ziegler led the way for Oregon with a composite score of 3-over 216, good for ninth overall. Senior Andrew Vijarro followed in a tie for 12th with a final score of 6-over 219, while fellow seniors Daniel Miernicki and Eugene Wong tied for 15th and 30th, respectively. @@http://www.golfstatresults.com//public/leaderboards/player/static/player2974.html@@
As it turned out, Oregon’s best performances came from players who competed individually and did not factor into the team score. Freshman Rak Cho rode a 2-under 211 to a sterling third-place finish, while Jonathan Woo — also a freshman — tied for seventh with a 2-over 215. Washington’s Chris Williams won the tournament with a 9-under 204, while Kevin Lim of Long Beach State trailed in second with a final score of 3-under 210.
Oregon returns to action in the Duck Invitational at the Eugene Country Club on March 26. @@http://www.goducks.com/SportSelect.dbml?&DB_OEM_ID=500&KEY=&SPID=246&SPSID=4384@@
