Senior forward Jasmin Holliday shot 6 of 12 from the field — including 3 of 7 from three-point range — to score 17 points for the Ducks. Fellow senior Amanda Johnson went 4 of 14 to score 10 points while grabbing eight boards and registering two assists. Continuing a recent trend, Oregon suffered from a poor shooting effort overall (32 percent from the field) in managing only 56 points, well below its season average. @@http://www.goducks.com/downloads2/448438.htm?ATCLID=205393476&SPSID=4307&SPID=236&DB_LANG=C&DB_OEM_ID=500@@
Washington’s attack was led by Pac-12 Freshman of the Year Jazmine Davis and Regina Rogers, an all-conference selection this season. Davis was untouchable from three-point range, hitting 7 of 10 attempts en route to 23 points. She also grabbed six rebounds while recording three assists and two steals. Rogers, a 6-foot-3 transfer from UCLA , went 9 of 13 from the field and scored 21 points. As a team, the Huskies shot 43.5 percent from the field, including 11 of 23 from three-point territory. @@http://www.gohuskies.com/sports/w-baskbl/mtt/rogers_regina00.html@@
The Ducks did manage to record 13 steals in the game — which contributed to 25 turnovers on the defensive end — but even that wasn’t enough to overcome eighth-seeded Washington. Following another trend from earlier this season, Oregon was badly beaten on the boards (52 to 35) while allowing the Huskies’ bench to outscore the Ducks’ reserves 27 to 12. @@http://www.pac-12.org/SPORTS/BasketballW/Standings.aspx@@
Oregon was sloppy in the first half of the game, committing several turnovers while making none of four opportunities at the free-throw line. The Huskies took advantage of the Ducks’ shortcomings, amassing a 41-22 lead at the half as Davis shot a scorching 7 of 9 from three-point range, scoring 21 first-half points.
Freshman forward Aminah Williams did a great job for Washington down low, scoring six points while grabbing 16 rebounds in 29 minutes of play.@@Cleanin’ the glass!@@
Oregon (15-16), who entered the tournament as a nine seed, has been bounced in the first round of the tournament for the fourth consecutive year. The Ducks will likely end their season without any postseason play, while the Huskies (17-12) move on to the quarterfinals to play second-ranked and No. 1 seed Stanford at noon on Thursday. Stanford (28-1, 18-0 Pac-12) was undefeated in conference play this season. @@http://www.pac-12.org/ABOUT/Tournament.aspx@@ @@http://www.ncaa.com/rankings/basketball-women/d1@@
