After winning its first Pac-12 series of the season this past weekend, the No. 17 Oregon softball team received some more good news when junior center fielder Samantha Pappas was named the conference’s Player of the Week award for April 2-8, commissioner Larry Scott announced Monday. @@http://www.goducks.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=500&ATCLID=205411210@@
The Las Flores, Calif., native helped lead the Ducks to a pair of road victories over No. 14 Stanford with an aggressive weekend offensively. Pappas paced Oregon in hitting (.556), walks (two), slugging percentage (1.444) and on-base percentage (.636). As one of four Ducks to hit safely in all three contests, Pappas also tallied two home runs, one triple and five hits in total.
It was the second career Player of the Week honor for Pappas, who leads Oregon in batting average (.388) and stolen bases (10) in 2012.
Arizona State pitcher Hillary Bach was tabbed the conference’s Pitcher of the Week, while Oregon junior Jessica Moore was also nominated for that award.
