Coming off a disappointing season opener against Saint Mary’s, the Oregon women’s basketball team will look to get their first win of the regular season. They are set to play Portland State Thursday night at 7 p.m. at Matthew Knight Arena.
The ticket promotion for this game will be Bi-Mart $3 Thursday. With proof of a Bi-Mart card, fans will be able to purchase a general admission ticket for a discounted $3 price.
While the Ducks are coming off a 78-69 loss to Saint Mary’s, Portland State is coming off a convincing 55-35 win over George Fox University and will try to continue their early success this Thursday against the Ducks.
Injury Update: Sophomore guard Lexi Peterson recently tore her ACL and will be out for the season. This comes as an early season blow to the Ducks and they will have to adjust as soon as possible as they will be without one of their best players.
Keys of the game: The key for the Ducks’ success against Portland State will be simple: shoot a better percentage from the field. Coming off a game where the Ducks shot just 30.6 percent from the field and 28.9 percent from beyond the arc, it shouldn’t be too hard to improve upon last game’s performance. It will definitely be interesting to see how this team continues to implement Coach Paul Westhead’s offensive scheme, “the System” as they try to mesh as a team before Pac-12 play begins.
