Lexi Petersen,@@goducks.com roster@@ projected to lead women’s basketball in scoring, is out for the season with a torn ACL. The absence of the sophomore guard from Tukwila, Wash., will be a huge blow offensively to a team that looked unpolished in their opener.
Petersen led the team in scoring in both exhibition games, scoring 27 and 23. In the season opener against the Saint Mary’s Gaels, Petersen had a more modest 11 points but was one of the more aggressive players on the court. In the second half, she was key in a 9-0 run when she abandoned the three-point shot and drove to the rack.
Danielle Love and Jordan Loera@@goducks@@ are the most likely candidates to shoulder the scoring burden inflicted by Petersen’s injury.
