Newsflash–USC has a talented group of receivers. Marqise Lee’s Pac-12 record 345 yards last week are more than any Duck receiver has all season.
“It’s the best ever in the Pac-12,” Avery Patterson said of Lee’s effort vs. Arizona. “He’s a good player; he broke the record in the Pac-12. He’s gonna make some plays, we just gotta limit him.”
Patterson said that it will be important for the Ducks secondary not to try and do too much against Lee and teammate Robert Woods. The Trojans talented receivers ran wild against the Ducks last year and Patterson said it will be important for him as a safety to help out his corners and not let anything get behind him. The Trojans proficiency in the play-action means Patterson will have to play a disciplined game and not cheat up allowing USC easy completions over the top.
“They were able to run the ball really good (last year),” Patterson said. “That really opened up their passing game.”
