Finishing in the top spot after three rounds of play was No. 6 Washington (293-293-300-886)@@http://www.ucdavisaggies.com/sports/w-golf/recaps/101012aaa.html@@ and with a 14-stroke lead on second-place No.7 UC Davis (302-292-306-900),@@http://www.ucdavisaggies.com/sports/w-golf/recaps/101012aaa.html@@ it was safe to say that the Huskies dominated the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational. Leading the way for the Ducks was sophomore Cassy Isagawa (74-74-71-219),@@http://www.golfstat.com/2012-2013/women/wtourfl12/W1241.htm@@ who logged in the Ducks’ lowest score with a 1-under 71 to finish in fifth place overall, which was also her lowest score of the tournament. Isagawa credits her solid performance to a 10 a.m. shotgun start that happened due to early-morning fog.
“I think that (having a shotgun start) helped me today so I wasn’t able to overthink my swing and my putting,” Isagawa said to GoDucks.com. Also helping lead the way for the Ducks was sophomore Cali Hipp (79-80-75-234), who had her best score of the tournament with a score of a 3-over 75.@@http://www.golfstat.com/2012-2013/women/wtourfl12/W1241.htm@@
On the individual side of things, Washington’s SooBin Kim (71-67-67-205)@@http://www.sjsuspartans.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_LANG=C&ATCLID=205709348&DB_OEM_ID=5600@@ set a new individual score and won medalist honors at the Edean Ihlanfeldt Invitational, shooting an 11-under 205 after shooting a 5-under 67 on the final round of play. Following in second place were UC Irvine’s Michelle Park (75-70-72-217)@@http://www.sjsuspartans.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_LANG=C&ATCLID=205709348&DB_OEM_ID=5600@@, Washington’s Charlotte Thomas (71-73-73-217) and Stanford’s Sally Watson (72-74-71-217),@@same link@@ who all finished the tournament at 1-over 217 to create a three-way tie for second place.
Other notable performances. Finishing in fourth place in a pool of 16 teams was nothing short of impressive and although Isagawa and Hipp helped lead the Ducks to a top-five finish, their fellow teammates came to play as well. On the horizon. To finish off their fall season the Ducks head to the Stanford Intercollegiate at the Stanford Golf Course next weekend from Oct. 19 to Oct. 21.
