Senior Jordan Hasay’s runner-up finish led the No. 3 Oregon women to the 2012 Pac-12 cross-country championship on Saturday at Robinson Ranch Golf Course in Santa Clarita, Calif.
Hasay added to her Pac-12 resume with Saturday’s second place finish in 20:10. Senior transfer Alexi Pappas was fourth in 20:12, while sophomore Allie Woodward was fifth with a time of 20:16. The eighth-ranked men took third place. Second-ranked Colorado defended its Pac-12 title by coming in first place with 49 points. No. 3 Stanford was second with 82, followed by Oregon with 105.
Oregon also counted a 31st place finish from freshman and Eugene native Matthew Melancon, who finished with a time of 24:19. Takeaways. “Our women did an outstanding job today in the toughest conference meet in the country,” said head coach Robert Johnson to GoDucks.com. “They were strong from the start.”
“The men did exactly what they needed to do today to keep moving toward the NCAA Championships,” Johnson said. “Trevor and Parker were right there up front the entire race and we also had some younger runner step up for us today.”
On the horizon. Oregon will compete in the NCAA West Region Championships in Seattle, Wash. on November 9.
