A student confronted a man who was attempting to steal his bike around 5 p.m. on Oct. 22, just outside Chapman Hall. The student struggled to gain possession of his bike back from the man, but the man took the bike and began riding it down 13th Avenue toward Kincaid Street.
A bystander on the street tackled the man, but the man was able to escape into the Duck Store.
The man escaped when he ran from the Duck Store to Caspian Mediterranean Cafe. The student whose bike was taken was able to recover it, but the man stole the student’s cable lock. No one was harmed.
The man was described as 6-foot-1, in his 20s, bald, with a thin build and bad teeth.
Anyone with information on the suspect is encouraged to call the University of Oregon Police Department at (541) 346-2919.
