EmX crash
An EmX bus and an SUV crashed Friday afternoon on Franklin Boulevard and Onyx Street, reported KEZI.
Police are still investigating the accident, though there were no serious injuries reported.
Only the SUV remains to be towed.
Mill worker regains arm
Jesus “Jessie” Cardonda Gonzales, 40, severed his arm above the elbow in an accident involving a saw at the Mary’s River Lumber Co. plant in Philomath, Ore., reported KMTR.
Gonzalez was taken to the Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland, where his arm was reattached. Now, Gonzales is able to move his index finger.
Junction City arrests man linked to burglary
Junction City police arrested a man on Wednesday at 952 Holly St. after finding evidence of stolen items, reported KMTR.
Police linked the evidence to a recent burglary spree at a number of local businesses like B & I Hardware and a local video store.
Police are still investigating the case and will return the merchandise to the business owners.
Pesticide-free zones rejected around Oregon water sources
Oregon Environmental Quality Commission unanimously voted against the Northwest Environmental Advocates’ proposal to using pesticide-free buffers around rivers and streams in order to protect threatened fish from chemicals, reported KVAL.
The NEA’s proposals had no-spray buffers up to 1,000 feet wide along waterways. Farmers, water quality specialists and forestry officials objected to this, as these buffers would destroy agriculture and block replanting areas
Portland police make changes involving use of force
The Portland Police Bureau made changes to reduce excessive use of force, especially to the mentally ill, reported KGW.
Police will use only deploy one Taser to the suspect, if necessary and attempt to handcuff him/her once deployed. @@all checked@@
