Anne Dhu McLucas, music professor and former School of Music and Dance dean, is identified as a victim in a double homicide occurring in Cottage Grove on Friday night, according to a report published on The Register-Guard’s website.
The 71-year-old’s accomplished teaching career — which included stints at Wellesley College, Harvard, Colorado College and Boston College before serving as a dean until 2002 — ended just a few months too soon. She was set to retire from the University in December after 20 years.
The other victim in the killing was McLucas’ partner 73-year-old James Gillette. On Saturday night, Johan Stevon Gillette, 36, was arrested on two counts of felony murder.
