College football season ended officially on Monday during a national championship game that may or may not have set the game back 100 years. But as we well know, in this day and age football has no real “offseason.” As soon as the final whistle blows, recruiting starts in earnest, and coaches around the country take part in their annual shameless migration to other schools. And so with that in mind, we bring you the latest in Oregon football news:
– KEZI reported Monday that the Miami Dolphins have contacted Chip Kelly in regards to their head coaching job. Soon after, the Miami Herald refuted that report. And it’s all organized nicely in this piece on Oregon Live. You have to love modern day sports reporting. For what it’s worth, I’m not buying this as a story. Even if the Dolphins did contact Kelly, that by no means indicates that he’s interested. It’s all hearsay at this point.
– Supwitchugirl’s Michael Bishop wrote a really good piece about seeing Cliff Harris in the stands during the Rose Bowl. Cliff’s career at Oregon is almost certainly over, but it was still a nice gesture for him to show up and cheer the team on. Here’s to hoping he gets things together, wherever he ends up next.
– The Register-Guard’s Rob Moseley wrote a season-in-review piece about Oregon’s quarterbacks.
– Also from Moseley: Oregon is projected to be No. 4 in the 2012 preseason rankings, behind LSU, Alabama and USC.
