The Clark Honors Program notified students in an email on Tuesday evening that University student Jackson Trevor Lusk, 21, died during the holiday weekend. Lusk was an undergraduate in the college majoring in mathematics.
An email sent from Hal Sadofsky, head of the mathematics department, on Thursday evening reported Lusk was found dead in his apartment on Monday.
The Lane County Medical Examiner said the cause of death is pending in a toxicology test, which could take four to six weeks.
Sadofsky said he taught Lusk in a summer class last year. Sadofsky described Lusk as an “excellent student, curious, critical in the best way, and interesting to talk to and work with.”
A memorial service will be held on Jan. 23 in Lusk’s home state of South Carolina.
