Take a Minute is a daily post that will catch you up internet happenings on campus and around the world.
Finally, the weekend. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate the end of Week 2 than wasting my day on the internet so you don’t have to. If you thought you could escape more SOPA news, you’re wrong; this is the internet after all. U.S. Rep. Peter DeFazio (D-Ore.) came to campus today to talk about the controversial bill that is now losing political steam.
Rep. Peter DeFazio is talking to the Internet, Society, and Philosophy class today on SOPA and IP issues. Interested to hear what he says.

The Democrat representing Oregon’s 4th Congressional District has been outspoken against the bill.

If you missed his talk, don’t worry, I’m sure you can catch him holding down the shuffleboard table at Taylor’s tonight.
In other news, Kobe Bryant didn’t only lose to LeBron James and the Miami Heat last night. He also reportedly had to give up his three L.A. area mansions and $75 million to Vanessa Bryant after their divorce. Ouch. Elin Nordegren is giving Vanessa dap after that steal.
Some sad news — singing legend Etta James passed away today after a bout with leukemia. Sit back and enjoy.
One of my favorite things on the internet has to be .GIFs. Here are a couple good ones. Maybe we’ll make .GIFs a regular Friday feature.
