The last few candidates for the presidential search committee to replace Interim President Robert Berdahl were finalized Wednesday, and a complete list of the committee was released to the University community.
The search committee will be chaired by State Board of Higher Education member Allyn Ford. Vice Chancellor of Academic Strategies Sona Andrews,@@http://www.ous.edu/about/andrewsbio@@ and Assistant University Vice President Tim Black@@http://directory.uoregon.edu/telecom/directory.jsp?p=findpeople%2Ffind_results&m=staff&d=person&b=name&s=Tim+Black@@ will assist Ford. The board has chosen the search consulting firm Diversified,@@http://www.diversifiedsearch.com/Biographies/ManuelAGongon.html@@ which has worked with University before to aid in prior candidate searches.
“There are a number of campus forums scheduled in February that will allow (University community members) to meet with the search consultant and give input on characteristics and qualities that we should be looking for,” Andrews said.
The list of committee members includes representatives from various constituencies across the campus. Students, staff, faculty and friends of the University are all included in this committee. The committee will begin its search for a new president immediately.
“The goal that we’re working toward is to have a new president named before the end of the academic year and the committee knows we have an aggressive schedule ahead, but we’re not going to rush through this,” he said.
