Certain DPS officers will dawn new uniforms Monday, according to Department of Public Safety spokesperson Kelly McIver.
Those officers whom have completed police academy in the state of Oregon will begin wearing official police uniforms, which will continue through the summer and into the fall term of 2012.
The new uniforms are a step towards the planned official campus police force. As of now, The University and Oregon State University are the only PAC-12 schools without a certified police force on campus.
Acting in-charge director and chief Carolyn McDermed, Lt. Mike Morrow and Lt. Brandon Lebrecht are the officers who will be wearing uniforms Monday.
The new uniforms are a continuation of the campaign to add eight sworn police officers to DPS’ personnel by the beginning of the 2012-13 school year.
