Oregon was tripped up on the road against University of Texas at El Paso Wednesday night, falling in a triple-overtime contest, 91-84.
It was the Ducks’ first triple-overtime game in over a decade, and it may never have gotten to that point had they shot better from the free throw line. The Ducks were just 14-of-27 from the charity stripe and also weren’t helped by a dismal first-half shooting performance of less than 30 percent. It’s just Oregon’s second loss of the season and their first since falling to Cincinnati on Nov 24.
There were some strong individual performances for the Ducks, notably Arsalan Kazemi notching what is becoming a routine performance for the Iranian-born senior; he had a game-high 16 rebounds to go along with his 13 points. Damyean Dotson@@names checked@@ led the Ducks with 20 points on 8-of-17 shooting, including a pair of threes early in the second half that brought them back into the game after a sluggish first half.
Oregon returns to Matthew Knight Arena this Saturday to host Houston Baptist.
