Charlie Alexander’s Oregon wrestling season isn’t over yet. Late Monday night, the redshirt freshman heavyweight was given one of the Pacific-10 Conference’s eight at-large bids to the NCAA Championships.
Alexander joins 133-pound junior Ryan Dunn as Ducks who will head to the NCAA meet, which takes place March 20-22 in St. Louis, Mo.
The heavyweight from Central Point, Ore. finished fourth Monday night, and was the only heavyweight to receive an at-large bid. With the top three in each weight class earning automatic bids, the Pac-10 coaches chose from fourth, fifth and sixth-place finishers to round out the conference’s allotment of NCAA berths.
Alexander finished the regular season with a record of 22-7, and entered the Pac-10 meet at McArthur Court as the No. 3 seed in the heavyweight division.
