Lane County’s budget committee plans on approving the 2008-09 budget by the last day of this month, the day one citizen said he is going to buy a gun to protect himself because the county won’t be able to.
“We don’t have enough shepherds for the sheep, and the wolves are on the loose,” said local resident Ken Major. “I don’t keep a weapon at home – until the end of this month.”
More than 100 people attended a budget meeting Tuesday night that picked apart the public safety services the county will be reduced to providing this summer.
