After resigning from the student senate a few weeks ago some very skewed comments have been made regarding myself and Programs Finance Committee chair Jacob Brennan. I could care less what’s been said about me, but am quite angry about the comments directed toward Brennan.

Senator Diego Hernandez said Brennan made racist, homophobic and sexist remarks during the budget season (“VFSA deserved its original increase,” ODE Feb. 21). These are huge accusations, but Hernandez failed to provide anything to support them and never mentioned anything of it at the time. Having served on the body with Brennan, I can say that he is not racist, homophobic or sexist. He has been a great student leader and an asset to student government.
Hernandez’s off-the-cuff remarks were uncalled for and should have never been made; yet, they were consumed by thousands of students on this campus. This was disrespectful to Brennan and damaging to his character.
I am only responding in this public space because it is the only way to reach those who read the terrible comments. Hernandez should keep his personal agendas out of the public forum and speak directly to those involved. Not doing so poisons the student government system further and does a disservice to every student on this campus.
