International Week will host three events today to encourage students to immerse themselves in international cultures.
The UO Career Center will offer an “International Job and Internship Workshop” at Mills International Center from 4 to 5 p.m. to help upper-division students find international jobs and internships.
“We’ll cover some of the important differences between international job searches and ‘regular’ job searches,” wrote Dani Amtmann, assistant director of the Career Center, in an e-mail.
Students can expect to learn job search strategies, tips for using the Internet and how to meet new companies and become involved in international communities.
From 4:30 and 7:30 p.m, Carson Dining Hall will host “Dinner in the Heart of Europe” with German, French and Italian food for six meal points or $9.75. The menu includes roasted bistro chicken, rosemary roasted potatoes, beef burgundy, mini éclairs and crepes Suzette. European music will play at the dining hall to enhance the atmosphere. The event is open to everyone.
The Indian movie “Taare Zameen Par,” which translates into English as “Stars on Earth” or “Stars on the Ground,” will be shown at Mills International Center at 6:30 p.m. The movie is subtitled in English and popcorn and snacks will be provided.
“It’s a special movie because it deals with the trauma of a child going through dyslexia,” Shivangi Ramachandran, an international student from India, wrote in an e-mail.
Movie night takes place every Thursday to showcase different films from around the world. “There are so many cultural things in films that you can’t learn by reading books,” said Adriane Bolliger, Mills International Center program director.
