The Oregon women’s soccer team split the final two games of its non-conference schedule and moved to 7-3-1 on the season by knocking off Oklahoma on Friday night, before falling to 12th-ranked Oklahoma State on Sunday.
Sophomore forward Jen Stoltenberg scored a pair of goals Friday night, and freshman keeper Cody Miles recorded her third straight shutout in a 2-0 win in Norman, Okla. The two scores for Stoltenberg give her seven for the season. Junior Teresa Bowns assisted both of the goals.
The Ducks out-shot their opponents yet again, putting 10 of their 15 shots on goal, which proved to be too much for the Sooners (1-10). Still, head coach Tara Erickson will gladly take the win.
“It was a great road win for us,” Erickson said. “Their record is deceptive because they are very athletic. They came at us hard but we played tough defense, and Jen made two really great goals on the other end.”
Sunday afternoon was a different story, as the Ducks lost to a formidable Oklahoma State team by a score of 3-1. The Cowgirls got out to a three-goal lead that was too much for the Ducks to overcome, despite their late goal from senior midfielder Jessica Goodell. The lone tally for the Ducks was the fourth goal of the season for Goodell.
“We played with them and kept fighting, but they are a good team,” Erickson said. “They are athletic, but also very soccer-savvy.”

Texas A&M.
It was the first loss in a little over a month for the Ducks, who will now turn their attention to conference play. Oregon starts next week in the Bay Area with a Friday night battle against No. 6 Stanford and a Sunday afternoon game against No. 20 California.
