The Academic Learning Center, housed in room 68 in the basement of Prince Lucien Campbell hall, has tutors for hire and free group sessions. They also host workshops teaching effective study habits. Call them at (541) 346-3226. The office is open Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
GET OUT OF TOWN
There’s no better way to forget about how long the next 10 weeks will be than to engage in some wholesome, altruistic behavior, beat the rain by learning a new skill in the water, or get off your feet and onto a pair of pedals.

Head to Island Park in Springfield to help rebuild trails and clear invasive plant species Friday and Saturday with a large group of volunteers who will be out getting their hands dirty from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Volunteers can show up any time at the park, which is located at 200 West B Street, Springfield, or call Willamalane Parks and Recreation District at (541) 736-4130.
? Drive a few hours north to Cannon Beach, Ore., and find yourself gazing at the Pacific Ocean, where Oregon Surf Adventures is waiting to teach you how to surf.
