University accounting majors will be in for a treat tonight as they play golf and network with accountants and professionals from a local Eugene accounting firm to benefit St. Vincent de Paul of Lane County.
The Jones & Roth Mini Golf Classic will begin Thursday night, but the evening course will open tonight for junior and senior accounting majors as well as accounting graduate students finishing their master’s degrees. Around 25 students are expected to play in the invitation-only tournament.
Tonight’s golf rounds will begin at 5 p.m. at Jones & Roth, located at 432 W. 11th Avenue in Eugene.
Rebecca Larson, community resources spokeswoman for St. Vincent de Paul, said the event should generate a lot of energy because of the rarity of the fundraiser.
“There are lots of different golf tournaments around town that raise money for different organizations, but this is, as far as I know, the only indoor mini golf tournament,” Larson said. “It’s just a very fun way to help and a creative way for Jones & Roth to think outside the regular golf tournament box. These are not dry accountant types. These are people who are creative and enjoy giving back to the community.”
