On the strength of its 56-21 victory over the South Florida Bulls in the Brut Sun Bowl, Oregon has reclaimed a spot in the top-25 in The Associated Press’ final poll to end the season ranked No. 23. The Ducks ranked No. 24 in the final USA Today (Coaches) poll. Both were the Ducks’ highest final rankings since finishing the 2005 season ranked No. 12 in both polls.
The Beavers finished just behind the Ducks at No. 25 despite defeating the Ducks in the Civil War. USC finished at No. 3 and Arizona State at No. 16, both teams that the Ducks defeated this season.
Oregon reached its highest position all season, No. 2, before losing quarterback Dennis Dixon to a torn knee ligament against Arizona. The Ducks spent seven weeks in the top 10 this past season, the most the program has achieved since the 2001 season.
Oregon kicks off the 2008 season Aug. 30 against the Washington Huskies at Autzen Stadium.
