Summer break and sunshine is fast approaching, and many college students are ready to start anew. Moving to a new house with different roommates has become second nature for most college students, and along with relocation comes the need for new accessories.
Pier 1 Imports and Bed, Bath and Beyond offer a wide array of innovative decorations, furniture and household appliances.
“I think that Pier 1 offers good prices on quality merchandise that is both trendy, fun and comfortable,” said Erin Reckers, assistant store manager at Pier 1 Imports.
Wicker furniture has become a very trendy, inexpensive item this spring. Wicker furniture has soft brown or white tones and can be easily color-coordinated with other household items. Students can decorate their living area and even their bedrooms in wicker.
Bed, Bath and Beyond carries wicker CD holders, dressers and night stands.
An inflatable furniture set can also be a cheap and stylish option for college students. Bed, Bath and Beyond carries inflatable chairs, couches and back rests in assorted colors and they also have bean bag chairs with colorful patterns.
Pier 1 Imports also offers a unique, inexpensive option for students who lack the funds for furniture.
“We have floor-size pillows, which college students often use for couches because they are cheaper than actually buying furniture,” said Reckers. The pillows come in a wide variety of colors and are 20″ by 20″ in length.
For those students looking for other fun and creative items, Pier 1 Imports is also having a sale starting today on all outdoor accessories. A popular item that will be on sale will be party buckets, which are galvanized metal buckets that can be filled with ice to keep beverages cool. The buckets are bigger than ice chests so they can hold more drinks.
Other fun accessories for the home that will be featured in June at Bed, Bath and Beyond are glow-in-the-dark sheets with a constellation pattern of the stars and shower radios. Bed, Bath and Beyond will also carry the MTV Line, which will include bedding and housing appliances that were featured on the television show the “Real World.”
“I think that college students should shop at our store because it offers value, versatility and great products,” said Don Peroddy, store manager of Bed, Bath and Beyond.
Others may choose to rent furniture or visit resale shops for more good deals.
