Lane County Commissioners will hold a public hearing Tuesday morning to hear comments about two scenarios for altering commissioners’ districts, which is required by law every 10 years. The two proposed scenarios adjust boundaries to ensure that populations remain relatively equal.
“They must make a decision on Nov. 20 because that is their last scheduled meeting before the deadline,” said Melinda Kletzok, the county’s public information officer.
The county must have boundary changes in place six months before the primary election in May. The lines are being redrawn based on data from the 2000 Census. Commissioners made the last changes to the districts 10 years ago, following the 1990 Census.
There are five districts in Lane County.
