Hilyard Street residents
receive unexpected visitor
A man wearing only his pajamas burst into an unlocked house Tuesday morning claiming someone had just shot his girlfriend. He then jumped headfirst out a closed window in the house.
Police are withholding the name of the man, 23, who ran into the house on the 1400 block of Hilyard Street at about 11:15 a.m. telling residents inside he needed a place to hide from the shooter. The man barricaded himself in a bedroom and became agitated as residents asked him questions about the incident before flinging himself out the bedroom window.
Police found no sign of a shooter, no charges were filed and officers took the man to Sacred Heart Medical Center for a psychiatric evaluation.
