The good news is today’s another day.
Freshman Jaime Seefried, playing in her first collegiate event, shot a 7-over 79 as the Oregon women’s golf team finished Day 1 of the NCAA Fall Preview shooting a 36-over par 324. Out of 24 teams competing in a tournament at the Washington National Golf Club in Auburn, Wash., the Ducks start play today in 23rd place.
However, the Ducks have a shot to improve on the final two days of play.
Second-round action is set to start at 8:30 a.m. today. Monday’s round was delayed several hours because of fog.
Seefried’s 79 tied her for 69th place overall. Freshman Jessica Carlyon and senior Kathy Cho both shot a 9-over 81, which tied for 96th in the individual race. Johnna Nealy (83), Lacy Erickson (87) and Katie Cunningham (88) finished off Oregon’s round Monday.
With a 5-over 293, Tennessee led the team competition Monday. Ohio State was second with a score of 294, while Pacific-10 Conference foes Southern California (298) and Arizona State (299) were third and fourth, respectively.
Washington State (327) is in last place.
