The first of two debates between candidates vying to become the voice of the student body will take place tonight from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Gerlinger Lounge.
Candidates for the ASUO president and vice president positions will discuss their platforms, key issues and views on everything from the Five Year Diversity Plan to the proposed sale of the Westmoreland apartment complex.
The five teams of presidential and vice presidential candidates will take questions from the ASUO Elections Board, the Emerald and audience members. They’re battling for the votes needed to advance to next week’s general elections, where just two executive spots are available.
Primary elections for executive and other student government seats continue until Friday at 5 p.m. Next week, the two remaining tickets will duke it out in another debate on April 11.
General elections begin Monday the 10th at 9 a.m. and end on Friday the 14th at 5 p.m.
Students can vote online through DuckWeb. Candidate statements are also available online at uoregon.edu/~asuoelec/vguide.pdf.
Both debates are free and open to the public.
