LeKendric Longmire, a 6-foot-5, 200-pound guard, signed a Letter of Intent Wednesday to play for Oregon, coach Ernie Kent announced.
Longmire averaged 25 points, eight rebounds, six assists, four steals and three blocks per game last season as a senior at Pascagoula High School in Pascagoula, Miss.
He was named all-area and all-state after leading the Panthers to the Mississippi 5A South State
Tournament with a 20-9 record.
Longmire will bring another scoring threat for Oregon at the guard position. He scored his career high of 38 points twice, and also had games of 37 and 34 points. Last season, he scored 20-plus points in 13 games.
Longmire was one of the state’s nominees for the McDonald’s All-America team and will be the first native Mississippian to play for the Ducks.
He joins Tajuan Porter and Joevan Catron as the other Oregon signees. Catron (Illinois) and Porter (Michigan) were both recently named to all-state teams. The two signed with Oregon in November.
