Community efforts to protect a species of local endangered butterfly and its West Eugene wetland habitat will be the subject of a fundraising event at 7 p.m. today in the EWEB Training Room at 500 E. Fourth Ave.
The Osprey Group, a Colorado-based organization that looks at public policy implementation, will present its findings on the conflict between proposed West Eugene transportation and its impact on Fender’s blue butterfly and threatened species. Eugene Mayor Kitty Piercy and local scientists also will make appearances at the event.
The event is sponsored by Preferred Futures and West Eugene Transportation Alternatives. Snacks and beverages will be available, and the event is free and open to the public.
