Frantz Dorsainvil, a 6-foot-8, 260-pound forward, will replace Ivan Johnson on the Oregon men’s basketball team. Johnson was released from his scholarship last week.
Dorsainvil signed a National Letter of Intent Thursday and will be a junior next season.
He spent two seasons at Vincennes University – a junior college in Vincennes, Ind. – where he averaged a team-best 10.7 points and 7.0 rebounds per game last season to help lead the team to a 26-6 record and a Region 12 championship.
“Frantz will have an immediate impact on this team,” Oregon coach Ernie Kent said in a University press release. “He’s a power forward with size, strength and explosiveness who will challenge our opponents.”
Dorsainvil is listed as the second biggest player on the Ducks’ roster behind redshirt junior Mitch Platt, who is 6-foot-10 and 275 pounds, according to last season’s media guide.
Johnson averaged 7.5 points, 8 blocks and 3.2 rebounds per game over the course of the 2005-06 year.
