An 18-year-old University student drinking from a 40-ounce bottle of Rainier Ale was arrested by Eugene police early Sunday morning after kicking in a window at Gerlinger Hall and breaking the bottle in a water fountain near the Student Recreation Center, according to Eugene police.
Kasey Lee Lambert was contacted by Department of Public Safety officers just before midnight on Saturday after he kicked and broke a window, Eugene Police Department spokeswoman Kerry Delf said.
“There’s an indication he may have been trying to get somebody’s attention, but we don’t know for sure,” Delf said.
Eugene police were called and cited him on charges of criminal mischief II and possession/consumption on an unlicensed premises, but when he was asked to dispose of the bottle, he broke it in the recreation center’s fountain, drawing a citation for criminal mischief III and a trip to Lane County jail, Delf said.
He will be charged in Eugene Municipal Court.
The Emerald could not reach Lambert for comment.
