Philosopher Stephen Erickson will lecture on human identity today at 4 p.m. in the Gerlinger Alumni Lounge.
Erickson, the E. Wilson Lyon Professor of the Humanities and a professor of philosophy at Pomona College, will address: “Can Philosophy Renew our Human Identity?” in a discussion on man’s struggle to understand an increasingly uncertain world.
Erickson will argue that uncertainty is engineering a renewed sense of the need for human belonging and will discuss the idea that globalization, while offering promise of global unity, is often disorienting and uprooting.
The Oregon Humanities Center is sponsoring the lecture. For more information, or for disability accommodations, call 541-246-3934.
