A man’s mishandling of a firearm near campus Friday night left one man dead and another with minor injuries, according to a Eugene police press release.
At 11:39 p.m. Friday, Eugene police rushed to 738 E. 18th Ave., just a block southwest of the University, after receiving report of multiple gunshots.
Bradley Scott Everett, 20, was found shot dead at the scene.
The incident appears to have been an accident, which occurred when an undisclosed subject mishandled the gun.
Nathan Post, 23, was transported to Sacred Heart Medical Center for injuries.
After investigation, police arrested Zachary Charles Cason, 22, on unrelated outstanding warrants.
None of the men are University students, police say, although the three men know each other.
