The Oregon Marching Band paraded through campus in the dark Monday night to drum up support for Friday’s Civil War football game against the Oregon State University Beavers.
Band members rescheduled the annual event, which usually occurs on the day before the game, to account for the Thanksgiving holiday Thursday.
Bewildered students stopped to watch as the band played “Mighty Oregon” and other football-game favorites in front of Johnson Hall, the University Bookstore, Rennie’s Landing and the new Living Learning Center residence hall. Many danced and clapped along with the fight song and recorded the music on their cell phones.
The band traveled to campus after practicing for two hours, said Director Eric Wiltshire.
